Content free hypnotherapy
This means that I do not need to know any more than you wish to tell me about your current issue. You do not need to explain or go over past experiences that may be painful, uncomfortable, or embarrassing. I can work with you to deal with whatever comes up during the session.
We often believe our issues stem from a particular event, but the actual cause can be quite different. We may believe that we have a fear of small places because of that time we got stuck in a lift when it really began when you were 3 and your older brother trapped you in a box, for example. You may not have any idea where your particular issue originated from and, with content free hypnotherapy, that doesn’t matter, because your subconscious mind will have that information stored.
A common misconception about hypnosis is that it is a kind of mind control or brainwashing. This is not the case, someone under hypnosis will retain full control of their actions and will only do things that they are happy to do. Hypnosis is an extremely safe and powerful method of getting into the root systems of the mind so that the person under hypnosis can make the changes that they wish to make.
A Brief History of Hypnosis
The use of hypnotic states for healing has been a part of every culture throughout time. There is evidence of hypnotic rituals being practiced as far back as 5000bc in ancient Egypt and Greece
Modern hypnosis begins in the late 1700s with a German physician called Franz Mesmer, who used hypnosis in the treatment of his patients in Vienna and Paris, this was known as mesmerism.
The term Hypnosis was invented by James Braid, A Scottish surgeon, in the mid-1800s. Hypnosis became popular amongst the scientists and physicians of the time, being widely studied, although no one was able to determine how hypnosis worked or what the actual state of hypnosis could be attributed to. We still to this day do not know the exact nature of the hypnotic state other than that it is attained through focus and concentration and allows us to be open to suggestions.
